Why "Lifetime" QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2024 Deals Are a Scam
Sellers offer "lifetime" QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2024 licenses at deep discounts. Here is why these deals cannot be genuine, and how to stay safe.

QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2024 is sold as a subscription, not a one-time purchase. That fact alone should make any “lifetime license” listing look suspicious. Yet discounted “lifetime” copies keep appearing on third-party marketplaces and in spam email, and buyers keep losing money on them.
What is actually being sold?
Intuit sells QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus as an annual subscription. The subscription includes updates, payroll add-ons, and support, and it expires when you stop paying. There is no genuine perpetual “lifetime” version of Pro Plus 2024.
Listings that claim otherwise typically fall into a few groups. Some sell a cracked or pirated copy. Some sell a short subscription disguised as permanent. Some send nothing at all once you pay. A few resell a single license to many buyers, which falls apart the moment Intuit flags it.
What happens after you buy?
The problems rarely show up immediately. Common outcomes include:
- The software stops activating, or the license is revoked, because it was already used or was never valid.
- Payroll, payments, and bank feeds fail, since those services verify an active, legitimate subscription.
- No support is available, because the seller was never authorized to provide it.
- Your payment card details are compromised if the site was a pure harvesting operation.
By the time it breaks, the marketplace listing is often gone and the refund window has closed.
How can you tell a listing is not legitimate?
A few signals cover almost every bad listing we see. The price is far below the normal subscription cost. The word “lifetime” or “permanent” appears anywhere in the pitch. The seller is not an authorized reseller. Payment is requested by wire, crypto, or gift card. The listing pushes urgency, such as a countdown timer or a “last copies” warning.
A safer way to buy
Purchase QuickBooks Desktop subscriptions directly from Intuit, or through a reseller you can verify as authorized. If a price looks too good, compare it against the official subscription cost before entering payment details. If you already bought a suspect copy, contact your card issuer about a chargeback, run a malware scan on the machine you installed it on, and move your company file to a legitimate subscription before adding more data.
