Troubleshooting QuickBooks Bank Sync After Arvest Security Update

Learn why Arvest Bank’s recent security changes can break QuickBooks bank feeds and get practical steps to restore syncing or use a temporary workaround.

NEWSQUICKBOOKY

Arvest Bank recently upgraded its security, which added an extra verification step when connecting to QuickBooks. This change can stop the automatic bank feed from updating, leaving transactions stuck or missing. Many users see an error that asks for a code they cannot provide through the usual sync process.

Arvest Bank’s Security Update and QuickBooks

The new security layer requires a one‑time passcode that QuickBooks does not currently prompt for during the automated connection. When the software tries to log in, it receives a request for this code and fails to complete the handshake. As a result, the bank feed shows a status of “connection interrupted” or stops importing new transactions.

Steps to Reconnect Your Bank Feed

First, disconnect the problematic bank account in QuickBooks. Go to the Banking tab, choose the Arvest account, and select the option to disconnect. Wait a few minutes, then click Add account and search for Arvest again. When the login screen appears, enter your username and password as usual. If the extra code step appears, choose the option to receive the code via text or email, enter it manually, and then finish the connection. This often restores the automatic feed.

Using Manual Upload as a Temporary Fix

If the reconnection does not work right away, you can still keep your books current by uploading transactions manually. Log in to Arvest’s online banking, download the recent activity as a CSV or QFX file, then use the Upload transactions feature in QuickBooks to import the file. Repeat this process whenever new transactions appear until the automatic sync is reliable again.

Check Arvest’s Website for Updated Connection Instructions

This approach helps you stay current with the bank’s requirements while keeping your QuickBooks data up to date.
