QuickBooks ProAdvisor Test Out stuck on Glider.ai blank screen
The ProAdvisor Level 1 Test Out toggle can redirect to a Glider screen that never loads. Here is what the stall means and how to get past it.
Accountants chasing the ProAdvisor Level 1 certification have run into a wall at the Test Out toggle. The click hands the browser to Glider, an outside assessment service, and the page never gets past a blank blue screen. One report making the rounds says the usual quick fixes, cache clears and browser swaps among them, changed nothing. Here is what that stall likely means and the order we would work through it.
What does the Test Out toggle do?
Test Out is the shortcut in the ProAdvisor training flow. It is meant to let you skip coursework: you attempt a challenge for a section and, if you pass, move on without sitting through every module. The challenge does not run inside the training area itself. Your session is passed to the outside assessment service, which is why the browser leaves the familiar pages the moment you flip the toggle.
Why does the screen stay blue?
A blank Glider page usually means the handoff broke, not that your exam started and froze. Your session has to travel from Intuit’s training portal to the assessment service, and that exchange depends on cookies, redirects, and scripts working on both sides. If any link in that chain is blocked, the page shell loads with nothing to fill it. The block can sit in your browser, your network, or upstream on the platform, which is why a single cookie clear rarely settles it.
The fixes we would try, in order
- Allow third-party cookies for both Intuit and Glider in your cookie settings, in a normal browser window. An incognito test proves little here. Chrome’s incognito mode blocks those cookies by default, so the test can cause the very stall you are chasing.
- Pause your extensions. Ad blockers, privacy shields, and script blockers all intercept the redirect chain between the two sites, and they fail silently.
- Drop the VPN and any corporate web filtering. Assessment services of this kind often refuse to build a session over a proxy. A phone hotspot is the fastest way to rule your network in or out.
- Sign out of QuickBooks Online Accountant everywhere, sign back in, and start the attempt fresh from the certification tab in one sitting. A half-open attempt from an earlier try can block the new one.
- Repeat the whole sequence once on a second computer and a second connection. The same blue screen both times points the finger away from your setup.
How do you know the fault is not yours?
When the identical screen appears on a different machine, a different connection, and a clean profile with no extensions, your part of the chain is effectively cleared. That points at the handoff itself, or at the assessment side failing to build the session. At that stage the attempt status lives with the vendor, and Intuit’s ProAdvisor support channel is the only place it can be inspected. Ask specifically whether an earlier attempt is stuck half-open against your account.
Finish the badge without the shortcut
Test Out is a convenience, not a requirement. The standard route through the training material and the section exams is still sitting in the ProAdvisor tab, and your progress toward certification does not have to stop while one toggle misbehaves. If the standard path also routes through the assessment service and stalls the same way, that is a stronger sign of an upstream fault, and waiting a day before the next attempt is reasonable.
Our practical suggestion: keep a short log of each failed attempt, with the time, browser, and network used. Two clean setups showing the same blue screen is your evidence that the shortcut is broken, so switch to the full exam path and let Test Out wait until the redirect behaves.
