QuickBooks Email Payments: Why Some Invoices Still Show One at a Time
QuickBooks email payment links can let customers pay multiple invoices at once, but only when certain conditions are met.

Intuit began rolling out a multi-invoice payment option for QuickBooks email invoices in May. When a customer receives an invoice email and clicks the Pay button, they may now see a list of all open invoices for that customer. From that screen, they can select several invoices and submit one combined payment.
This only applies to payments started from the email link, not from the regular customer portal or a saved card on file.
Why your emails may still show one invoice
The multi-invoice view depends on several conditions being true at the same time. If any one of them is missing, the customer sees only the single invoice they clicked.
- The invoice must be sent through QuickBooks Online using the standard email template, not a custom or third-party email system.
- The customer’s email address must match the one on file in the customer record.
- The customer must not have a saved payment method set as default, which bypasses the multi-invoice screen.
- The feature must be enabled in your account. It is on by default for most QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced subscriptions, but not for Simple Start or Essentials.
What you can check
If your customers are not seeing the multi-invoice option, confirm the following:
- Your subscription includes the feature. Check your plan under Settings, then Subscription and billing.
- The customer email address in the invoice matches the address the customer actually receives.
- You are sending the invoice directly from QuickBooks, not through a connected app or third-party service.
- The customer has not saved a card or bank account as their default payment method.
What the limitation means for you
Even when enabled, the multi-invoice screen only appears for customers who click the Pay link from the email. Customers who log in to the portal, save a payment method, or pay through a third-party integration will not see it. The feature also does not combine invoices across different customers or consolidate statements.
If the conditions above are met and the feature still does not appear, the rollout may not have reached your account yet. Intuit released it gradually, and some regions or account types received it later than others.
What to do next
Review your subscription plan and confirm the feature is available. Then send yourself a test invoice to verify the multi-invoice screen appears when you click the Pay link from the email. If it does not, wait a few days and try again, since the rollout can take time to reach every account.
