QuickBooks Online Becomes the Hub of Intuit's AI Agent Push
Intuit's fiscal 2025 annual report casts QuickBooks Online as the base for AI agents, a redesigned feed, and a mid-market climb toward Enterprise Suite.

The biggest news in Intuit’s annual report for fiscal 2025, for anyone running QuickBooks Online, is a repositioning of the product from a ledger you maintain into a system that does work for you. In fiscal 2025 Intuit launched what it calls a transformative set of AI agents, a virtual team that completes jobs on the customer’s behalf, paired with a redesigned user interface and a new business feed that surfaces real-time insights, recommendations, and the tasks agents completed. Intuit says the customer remains in control even as workflows are automated.
From recording to doing
The report frames this as the payoff of an AI-driven expert platform strategy declared in 2019: agents automate everyday tasks, manage complex workflows, and offer predictive insights that, in Intuit’s words, solve challenges before they arise. Our read for you: the QuickBooks Online user’s job shifts toward reviewing and approving, and the business feed becomes where you audit what your virtual team did. Intuit credits its proprietary Generative AI Operating System, GenOS, for shipping speed, which suggests the pace of change inside the product will stay high.
A ladder built for growing firms
The packaging reads as a deliberate graduation path:
- QuickBooks Solopreneur and Self-Employed serve independent contractors and solo entrepreneurs
- Simple Start, Essentials, and Plus scale by size and complexity
- QuickBooks Online Advanced targets mid-market businesses with more complex needs
- Intuit Enterprise Suite, which the report says builds upon the familiar QuickBooks Online interface, adds multi-entity accounting and multi-dimensional reporting
The message we take from this: grow, and you stay inside the same interface. Fittingly, the segment was renamed from Small Business & Self-Employed to Global Business Solutions on August 1, 2024, a signal of mid-market ambition. Desktop remains in the lineup on a subscription basis, with Desktop Plus for small businesses and Enterprise offered as a download or hosted, spanning industries from Contractor and Manufacturing to Retail, Nonprofit, and Professional Services.
The ledger as a financial gateway
The report ties QuickBooks data directly to money. Payment processing is deeply integrated into QuickBooks Online; bill pay connects businesses to vendors and imports bills automatically; payroll runs on subscription with automated tax payments and filings plus time tracking. On capital, Intuit says customers can use their QuickBooks data to qualify to borrow, whether from Intuit via an originating bank partner or from partners on the QuickBooks Capital Marketplace, while QuickBooks Line of Credit provides pre-approved limits drawn as term loans. The implication Intuit itself draws: more complete books strengthen access to financing.
Humans and ecosystem stay in the loop
QuickBooks Live offers Expert Assisted guidance and Full-Service Bookkeeping that Intuit describes as delivering guaranteed accuracy, staffed by certified ProAdvisors, many of them CPAs. The ProAdvisor network spans hundreds of thousands of accountants, and QuickBooks Online remains an open platform for third-party developers.
Scale and the caution
Global Business Solutions contributed 59 percent of total revenue in fiscal 2025, flat with fiscal 2024 and up from 56 percent in fiscal 2023; international revenue held near 8 percent in each of the last three fiscal years. The business section’s own caution: rapid technological change, shifting customer needs, and frequent new product introductions demand continuous investment, and Intuit expects to expand third-party technology relationships. The agent bet, in other words, is also a spending commitment.
