Amazon Purchases Will Flow Into QuickBooks Under Expanded Intuit Deal

Amazon and Intuit have expanded their partnership. Here is what the deal means for QuickBooks users, from automatic purchase imports to AI categorization.

Amazon Purchases Will Flow Into QuickBooks Under Expanded Intuit Deal

Amazon and Intuit announced an expanded strategic partnership in June 2025. It reaches into three areas: online shopping, small-business bookkeeping, and the cloud that runs Intuit’s products. For QuickBooks users, the bookkeeping piece is the one worth your attention.

The expanded partnership at a glance

The deal has a consumer side. Intuit Assist, the company’s AI assistant, is being woven into the Amazon shopping experience. The stated goal is to help a shopper weigh a purchase against a budget before checking out.

The small-business side is what matters to accountants. Amazon Business purchases will flow into QuickBooks automatically once an account is connected. Intuit’s AI will suggest a category for each purchase, based on the business’s existing chart of accounts. Receipts are meant to match up with the right entries, cutting manual data entry and simplifying tax time.

There is also an infrastructure layer. Intuit is moving its workloads onto AWS as its preferred cloud provider, and it plans to use Amazon’s Trainium AI chips to train and run its models. Intuit expects that shift to lower its AI computing costs.

How will Amazon purchases land in QuickBooks?

The mechanics, as announced, are straightforward. You connect your Amazon Business account to QuickBooks. Purchases then import on their own, with AI proposing an account category for each line. Receipt matching is handled the same way, so the supporting documents attach themselves to the transaction.

One constraint is worth naming. The system maps purchases onto the chart of accounts you already have. It will not invent a better structure for you, and it cannot read intent into a messy category list.

Can you trust the automatic categorization?

Treat the suggestions as proposals, not verdicts. The AI works from your existing accounts and history, so a clean history produces good suggestions and a tangled one produces more of the same. Review before you accept, exactly as you would with bank feed rules.

Watch for duplicates as well. Purchases may also arrive through your bank feed, in which case they need matching rather than fresh entry.

When will the integration be available?

At the announcement, Intuit pointed to a gradual rollout rather than a single launch date. Availability will vary, and an announced feature is not the same as a live one in your file. We would not rebuild any workflow around this until you can see it working in your own QuickBooks.

Sensible preparation you can do now

Three things are worth doing before any marketplace feed connects to your books. First, tidy the chart of accounts: merge duplicate categories and retire the ones nobody uses. Second, decide how Amazon purchases should post, whether to one clearing category or a handful of specific accounts. Third, reconcile your current Amazon transactions so the history is clean before automation starts adding to it.

A clean, boring category list is the best preparation for any integration, this one included. If yours has grown tangled over the years, our team can help straighten it out before you connect anything new.
