Updating Payment, Sign-in, and Business Details in Your Intuit Account
QuickBooks users can update payment methods, business details, and sign-in credentials for their Intuit Account through a single online portal.
A question that recurs across QuickBooks communities is deceptively simple: where do you change the card on file, the business address, or the password behind your payroll sign-in? None of those settings live inside the accounting software. The accepted answer points to one destination, the online Intuit Account portal, and a single sign-in there covers all three tasks.
One account behind several services
The Intuit Account is a shared credential rather than a QuickBooks-specific login. One user ID and one password open several Intuit sites, including the storefront, QuickBooks Desktop Payroll, and QuickBooks Workforce. Your user ID is usually an email address, though it does not have to be. After signing in, you can review past orders, reach product downloads, and edit the stored details that billing and payroll services depend on.
Most accounts are created the first time you buy something directly from the vendor online. That origin matters, and we return to it below, because some older purchases never produced credentials at all.
What can you change after signing in?
Head to accounts.intuit.com, enter your user ID and password, and sign in. A Manage Account area appears with three sections, and each one answers a different part of the original question.
The Sign in & security section covers your user ID, the email tied to your credentials, your password, and related safety options such as the security question. This is the screen people hunt for after a credential reset or a security worry. It sits on the account site rather than in the desktop product, which is why searches inside the software come up empty.
Products & billing is the money section. It shows your payment history, lists active subscriptions, and lets you manage the payment methods on file. If a card is approaching its expiration date, this is where you replace it, and payroll subscription billing details get updated here as well.
Business profile covers company identity. From there you can change the legal business name, the email on record, the company address, and similar contact details that other services pull from your account.
A second route for checks and payroll billing
The main portal is not the only door. On the site that sells checks and business cards, an account link at the top of the page opens an Account Information area where the same kinds of details can be revised. Readers updating a legal business name and address, or payroll billing details, will find paths there too. Two entrances, one account, so edits made in either place feed the same record.
Can you recover a forgotten user ID or password?
Yes, and the recovery flow also lives on the account site. When the standard sign-in fails, choose the try-something-else option and follow the prompts to retrieve your user ID or reset your password. Once recovered, sign in again and the full Manage Account area becomes available. Nothing in this flow requires opening QuickBooks first.
The catch for purchases that never created credentials
Here is the wrinkle that strands some long-time users. Buyers who purchased products without setting up a user ID and password at checkout have purchases on record but no way to view them online. There is no self-service method to claim that history afterward. The only route runs through the vendor’s support desk, which can associate existing products and services with a new set of credentials. Until that link exists, order history, downloads, and account settings stay out of reach from any browser.
Anyone without an account at all can create one on the spot at the same address. New buyers get one as part of the first online purchase, which is how most accounts begin.
The pattern in the accepted guidance is consistent once you see it. Credentials, payment methods, and company identity belong to the account, not to the software, so every QuickBooks product sends you to the same portal for those edits. Save yourself the next search: when the card expires or the address changes, go straight to the account site.
