QuickBooks Online Mexico: What the Promotional Pricing Fine Print Actually Means
A plain-language breakdown of QuickBooks Online Mexico's trial, discount, and annual billing terms, including what happens when a promotion ends.

QuickBooks Online users in Mexico who sign up for a promotional rate or a free trial may be surprised by what happens when that introductory period ends. The vendor’s own terms, published in Spanish for the Mexico edition, spell out exactly how the discounts work, when charges begin, and what you give up if you cancel early. We walked through the key points so you know what to expect before you commit.
The 30-day free trial is not a free month you can time to your advantage
New subscribers to QuickBooks Online in Mexico get the first thirty days at no charge, starting from the enrollment date. That window is fixed. You cannot pause it, extend it, or restart it with a new account. Once those thirty days are up, the system asks for a valid credit card and begins charging the monthly rate for the plan you selected. There is no grace period after the trial. If you do not want to be charged, you need to cancel before the thirty days run out.
Promotional discounts apply only for a limited time
When you sign up for a discounted rate on Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, or Advanced, the reduced price applies from the moment you register. It does not last forever. Once the promotional period ends, the system switches you to the standard monthly price then in effect. The vendor reserves the right to change prices, features, support, and service at any time, so the post-promotion rate may differ from what you saw when you first enrolled. The terms state this clearly: you pay the promotional rate for the advertised window, then the full retail price takes over.
Monthly subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel
QuickBooks Online runs on automatic monthly billing. The charge hits your account every month until you actively cancel. Canceling does not trigger a refund. Instead, you keep access to the subscription through the end of the period you already paid for. If you paid for March and cancel on March 10, you can still use the service through March 31. After that, the account stops. There is no prorated refund for the unused days.
Annual billing locks you in for twelve months
You can pay for QuickBooks Online annually in advance and receive a discount off the standard monthly rates. That discount comes with a trade-off. If you cancel before the twelve-month prepaid period ends, you do not get your money back. You do, however, retain full access to the subscription for the rest of those twelve months. The vendor does not cut you off early just because you asked to cancel.
At the end of the twelve months, the annual subscription renews automatically. The renewal happens at the retail price then in effect for your annual subscription tier, using the billing information on file. If you do not want that renewal, you need to cancel before the twelve-month mark. The terms note that discounts, prices, and conditions are all subject to change, so the renewal price may be higher than what you paid the first year.
The 24-month volume discount has strict eligibility rules
For a limited time, eligible businesses in Mexico can get 30 percent off for twenty-four months on Simple Start, Essentials, or Plus. To qualify, you need at least two subscriptions tied to a single email address. This offer is only for new QuickBooks Online customers and trial users. Businesses based in the United States are excluded. The discount applies for the first twenty-four months, after which the standard rate takes over.
You can change plans at any time
Whether you are on a monthly or annual subscription, you can upgrade or downgrade to a different QuickBooks Online tier whenever you want. Moving from Essentials to Plus, or from Plus back to Simple Start, does not require you to wait out your current billing cycle. The change takes effect according to the vendor’s plan-switching process, and your billing adjusts accordingly.
What this means for your budget
The promotional pricing structure rewards short-term savings but penalizes early exit. If you sign up for an annual plan to lock in a discount, you are committing for the full twelve months regardless of whether you keep using the service. If you rely on a promotional monthly rate, you should mark the date that promotion ends so the jump to full price does not catch you off guard. And if you are counting on the free trial to evaluate the software, remember that thirty days starts the moment you register, not the moment you begin using it.
