Intuit Accountant Suite Brings Tiers and AI Chat to QuickBooks Online Accountant
Intuit Accountant Suite replaces the QuickBooks Online Accountant workspace with Core, Accelerate, and Books Close tiers, and billing starts in mid-2026.
Accountants who sign into QuickBooks Online Accountant are meeting a new name over the old workspace: Intuit Accountant Suite. The change splits the software into tiers, adds an AI assistant called Intuit Intelligence, and sets dates in mid-2026 when free beta access ends. We have gone through the vendor’s published overview line by line, and the shape of the change is straightforward.
What is Intuit Accountant Suite?
Intuit positions the suite as one AI-powered platform that brings a firm, its team, and its clients together, with efficiency and growth as the stated aims. The practical shift is easier to state. The tools accountants already use in QuickBooks Online Accountant now sit inside a tiered structure, and new features are layered on top of them. Intuit also pitches the tiers as a way for the software to scale with a firm as it grows.
Core keeps the familiar tools
Core is the entry tier, and it costs nothing beyond what firms pay today. Intuit says it carries over the full QuickBooks Online Accountant feature set on refreshed, faster systems. Several additions come with it:
- Requests, which gathers client communications in one place and handles handoffs inside Intuit Intelligence chat, so attached accountants can step in when their expertise is needed.
- A customisable home dashboard that surfaces daily tasks, disconnected bank feeds, and alerts in one hub.
- Customer Hub, a built-in CRM for tracking leads, automating follow-ups, and managing client communications.
- Intuit Intelligence chat, which answers questions, offers personalised insights, and takes on delegated tasks, with 200 prompts per month.
No extra purchase is involved. If your firm used QuickBooks Online Accountant before the change, Core is where you land, and the new tools arrive alongside the old ones.
What does the paid Accelerate tier add?
Accelerate sits above Core as a paid tier for larger or more complex firms. It includes everything in Core, then adds portfolio-level tooling:
- Client insights, which track financial KPIs, payroll, VAT, and bill pay data across every client at once. Dashboards can group clients by any criteria you define, from industry to service tier.
- User groups, which assign role-based access to clients in bulk instead of one name at a time.
- AI-powered anomaly detection that flags discrepancies for you to review and resolve.
- Cross-client comparisons, listed as coming soon, which will answer questions across the portfolio for advisory work.
- A larger Intuit Intelligence allowance of 1,000 prompts per month.
VAT in the KPI list is a nod to the UK audience the overview addresses. The tier itself is free during its beta period, which runs through June 30, 2026. Intuit says paid billing begins July 1, 2026.
Books Close arrives as a separate add-in
Books Close is not part of either tier. It is a premium add-in that standardises the month-end close across every client, and a firm can attach it to Core or to Accelerate alike. Intuit is waiving its cost during the beta period, which runs to the end of June 2026, with billing from August 1, 2026.
When does free access end?
The two beta windows close at the end of June 2026, and that is the detail most worth marking. Accelerate stays free through June 30, 2026, with paid billing from July 1, 2026. Books Close also stays free through the end of June 2026, but its billing starts a month later, on August 1, 2026. Core carries no new charge, so the deadlines only matter if you want the paid tier or the add-in.
The prompt allowance is the quiet constraint
Both tiers include Intuit Intelligence chat, but the monthly allowance differs sharply between them. Core accounts receive 200 prompts per month; Accelerate accounts receive 1,000. A firm that leans on the assistant for daily questions and delegated tasks could hit the lower ceiling quickly. That cap, more than the dashboards, may decide which tier a firm genuinely needs.
What should firms do before billing starts?
Nothing needs to happen today. Core users keep their existing tools with no new bill attached. Firms that want Accelerate or Books Close have the beta window to test both at no cost, and a clear deadline after which invoices start. The sensible move now is to list the features your team actually uses, match that list against each tier, and watch the prompt allowance before the free period closes.
